Our film traces a secret geography of the Health and Safety Lab in Derbyshire. It reflects on the landscape of the Peak District and its relationship with the deep history of engineering, alighting from ancient conical hills and drystone walls to mines research labs and industrial testing ranges. Mixing fact and fiction, as well as documentary and archive footage, the film imagines a delayed encounter between poet William Blake and political philosopher Thomas Hobbes, one of the pioneers of mechanics who lived in the Peak District. We will be screening this up the road at the Winchester School of Art later on October 31st with Nick Stewart. Find out more about Nick on his website –
