I have signed the petition. I think it is on our right to check for the results of public funded research, sometimes it is not easy to access someone;s research after publishing.
When i did my nursing degree i struggled to find all info i wanted on public research, and when i found it i need to have authorization....
I have signed the petition. I think it should be our right to check for the results of public funded research. I do medical research and finding and getting access to research is sometimes a problem.
The European Commissions recent decision of advising for adopting the policy of offering Open Access to the research results have ushered in a new era for the researchers. Its a true sign of support of the EU towards the researchers all around the globe.
I have signed the petition. I think it should be our right to check for the results of public funded research. Also another usefull petition can be found here: HERE (let me know if the link is down). I do medical research and finding and getting access to research is sometimes a problem.

The American Scientist Open Access Forum has been chronicling and often directing the course of progress in providing Open Access to Universities' Peer-Reviewed Research Articles since its inception in the US in 1998 by the American Scientist, published by the Sigma Xi Society. The Forum is largely for policy-makers at universities, research institutions and research funding agencies worldwide who are interested in institutional Open Acess Provision policy. (It is not a general discussion group for serials, pricing or publishing issues: it is specifically focussed on institutional Open Acess policy.)
You can sign on to the Forum here.
