Very interesting topic! I understand the challenges in relation to the Pit Bull, however, having known many friends over the years who have owned and loved their pit bull, I find the blanket dislike for this breed unreasonable. The pit bull, like any animal can be vicious and unpredictable. Grooming and conditioning to behave and monitor the dogs attitude is what sets the good and the bad apart. I too have known some vicious pit bulls, but then, so were their owners!
Having been an owner of a pit bull myself i have found they tend to generate fear in people who are generally not dog owners. They have recieved very bad press which has been whipped up by the media.
A dog is a dog and a bad owner is a bad owner. The bad owners are the reason this topic exists. |

The American Scientist Open Access Forum has been chronicling and often directing the course of progress in providing Open Access to Universities' Peer-Reviewed Research Articles since its inception in the US in 1998 by the American Scientist, published by the Sigma Xi Society. The Forum is largely for policy-makers at universities, research institutions and research funding agencies worldwide who are interested in institutional Open Acess Provision policy. (It is not a general discussion group for serials, pricing or publishing issues: it is specifically focussed on institutional Open Acess policy.)
