Frameworks for collaboration and multilingualism - 6-7 July 2016 - University of Warwick

CALL FOR PAPERS : Deadline Friday 4 March 2016

The eighth biennial joint LLAS, UCML and AULC conference aims to bring together language practitioners from Secondary, Higher, and Further Education to celebrate language collaborations and innovations across the sector.

The conference is centred on the development of partnerships and frameworks that have formed between individuals or institutions who are continuing to work on bringing languages to the fore.  As a response to challenging times in which our strategically important, yet vulnerable, subjects continue to feel the strain of falling student numbers, instigating innovative collaborations and teaching practices has indeed become of strategic importance in the re-framing of language learning at all levels.

EMI in Higher Education: the challenges and the opportunities

CALL FOR PAPERS : Deadline Friday 8 April 2016

As teachers of English for Academic Purposes in ever-widening contexts, both geographical and disciplinary, we can find ourselves facing complex challenges and issues, none more so than when problematising the “E” in English Medium Instruction in Higher Education and its future development.   Practitioners and researchers are invited to participate in a day of constructive discussion around the nature of English in the EMI context, together with implications for the delivery of course content, standardisation and assessment, and ultimately the consequences for the EAP tutor, both in the UK and in off-shore campuses.  Dr Kristina Hultgrun, Lecturer in English Language and Applied Linguistics at the Open University will be attending as a Plenary Speaker.  Themes, call for papers submission form and further information can be found here.
