I’ve just found out about Huginn, a platform designed to host automated agents to perform online tasks. The github has some quite compelling use cases that could be tied into many of ORCHID’s projects – a short sampling:

  • “Track counts of high frequency events and send an SMS within moments when they spike, such as the term ‘san francisco emergency’.” – Currently on going tweet work?
  • “Create Amazon Mechanical Turk workflows as the inputs, or outputs, of agents.” – We could hook our crowdsourcing work in here.
  • “List terms that you care about and receive emails when their occurrence on Twitter changes.” – Again, ties into our event detection and response work.
  • “Watch for air travel deals.” – AgentSwitch?

If it’s as good as they claim, it will certainly be useful!
