Documentary screening about forced Venezuelan migrant women and girls fleeing humanitarian crisis – Thursday 12th January 2023, Harbour Lights

It is a huge pleasure to invite you to the screening of the documentary Salir Adelante / Moving Forward (English subtitled), directed and produced by Bruna Curcio in collaboration with the ESRC-funded Redressing Gendered Health Inequalities of Displaced Women and Girls (ReGHID) at the University of Southampton.

Salir Adelante is a documentary based on the stories of Venezuelan forced migrant women and girls who fled humanitarian crisis to rebuild their lives and hopes while experiencing the everyday struggles of unfamiliar and sometimes adverse places in Brazil. The documentary calls the attention to the perilous journeys to hope, safety and wellbeing as well as on the failures of protection regimes and policies to redress the many risks, harms and barriers that stop migrant women and girls from enjoying the rights, dignity, and respect they are entitled to.

The screening and debate is on Thursday 12th January 2023, 6-8pm at Harbour Lights Picturehouse in Southampton. There will be a Q&A and reception following the screening.
