This is the second biennial conference jointly organised by the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies and CILT, the National Centre for Languages. 5. Plagiarism: Prevention, Practice and Policies Conference 2004

This is the inaugural conference organised by JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service (JISCPAS) and will take place at Northumbria University on the above dates. For more information please visit JISCPAS website.

6. Annual SEEC (Souther England Consotium for Credit Accumulation And Transfer) Conference

9/10 September 2004 at Brunel University

The conference is entitled New Patterns of Learning in Higher Education and will be held on 09 and 10 September 2004 at Brunel University in London. It will be looking at changes in the ways in which students gain access to higher education, new modes of study (for example, work-based and blended learning) and new routes to a higher education award (including partnerships with employers). Subject Centre publications

7. Area Studies Library Collections

As part of the Materials Bank project the Subject Centre has collected information for inclusion on its website of special library collections of relevance to the teaching and learning of Area Studies. Many of the collections are held in libraries of institutions not offering Area Studies courses and some contain material which is not yet fully catalogued.

8. New articles on RAE and New Zealand Studies added to Good Practice Guide

Articles on RAE by Professor J Coleman and New Zealand Studies by Professor G Robinson have now been added to the Subject Centre Good Practice Guide.

9. Modern Languages Applications and Acceptances

An updated analysis of statistics from UCAS has been produced jointly by the Subject Centre and CILT.
