1. Bridging the gap: the teaching of foreign literatures and cultures

6. Education for sustainable development

The Subject Centre has received funding via the Higher Education Academy to explore ways in which our subject communities may be able to contribute towards HEFCE's Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) agenda.

7. Collaboration programme in modern languages in higher education - report available

The report on the lessons learned on collaboration from the Collaboration Programme has now been published. Copies of the report will be sent to all members of the Subject Centre mailing list later this month.

8. New resources this month

Search 700 reasons for studying languages. There is now an online searchable database of the 700 Reasons published in the recently produced 700 Reasons Report. You can search reasons by keyword and theme. To order a copy go to the order form.

14. Translang project - materials available

The Subject Centre has received a number of complete sets of documentation and resources for the TransLang Project (Transferable Skills Development for Non-specialist Languages 1997-2000).
