Conference Site and Accommodation
Highfield Hall and the Southampton University Campus are both near the Southampton Common which is essentially an enormous park in the centre of Southampton. It is an excellent recreational space, ideal for a morning run or evening stroll. Local wildlife include deer and great crested newt. The closest historic site is actually the Southampton Leet which is where the mediaeval court was held, only 5 mins walk from the conference venue. Getting AroundAll taxis in Southampton must be booked by phone prior to the journey, except when picked up at transport locations (stations etc). There are many companies and conference staff will be pleased to 'phone a taxi for you. Some are:
Alternatively, there is a comprehensive University bus service and all busses go through the Bus Station marked on the local site map, near the Turner Sims. For these, you can buy tickets on board and all fares are �1 one way, �2 for a day pass. More arrival information is available.
